Today is World Read Aloud Day!
World Read Aloud Day is about showing that reading is a gift that all people have the right to. WRAD was created to celebrate the written word and the power of these words. "World Read Aloud Day motivates children, teens, and adults worldwide to celebrate the power of words, especially those words that are shared from one person to another, and creates a community of readers advocating for every child’s right to a safe education and access to books and technology. By raising our voices together on this day we show the world’s children that we support their future: that they have the right to read, to write, and to share their words to change the world."
Hosted by LitWorld, World Read Aloud Day started in 2010 and reached to 35 countries and 40,000 participants then expanded to 60 countries, all 50 states and 200,000 participants. This year they hope for over a 1,000,000 participants.
Jen and I are both celebrating World Read Aloud Day today and will post tomorrow about how it went. Today, we want to share our top three favorite read alouds of all time.

We hope you take the time to read to the children in your lives today and every day - even if it's only 15 minutes a day. Share the magic of read aloud - gather close, talk to each other, create a memory.
