It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA! 

It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!

After doing the meme for a couple of weeks, we realized this would be a fun meme to start up with a kidlit focus - anyone reading and reviewing books in children's literature - it can be picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, you name it in the world of kidlit and it's in! We have loved being a part of this meme and we hope you do too!  We encourage everyone participating to go and visit the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and to comment on as many posts as you can. We love talking books and believe in sharing and discussing what we're reading. We hope you join us!

Last Week's Book Adventures:

Jen Says: I really enjoyed this week of reading. It was just a really happy week for me. I loved listening to The Fault In Our Stars by John Green as a reread. The narration was great. It is such an awesome book. I also read My Mixed-Up Berry Blue Summer by Jennifer Gennari, The Year of Books by Andrea Cheng, Horton Halfpott by  Tom Angleberger (audio), and Bird & Squirrel On the Run by James Burks. I've been trying really hard to read Visible Learning for Teachers by John Hattie but it's been slow-going. I'm understanding it more but it's still a lot of math/statistics for me!

Kellee Says: A bit of a successful week. I did get through 2 novels as I planned as well as a 6 picture books. I finished Darkbeast by Morgan Keyes which is a high fantasy middle grade novel and Alligators Overhead by C. Lee McKenzie which is a fantasy mystery novel. Both of them were very unique and I cannot wait to share them with you later. The 6 picture books I read were all homonym/homophone/idiom books that I read to think about sharing with my Developmental Language Arts ESL class: More Parts by Tedd Arnold, Why the Banana Split by Rick Walton, There's a Frog in my Throat by Loreen Leedy, The King Who Rained and A Chocolate Moose for Dinner by Fred Gwynne, and My Teacher Likes to Say by Denise Brennan-Nelson. All of which I will share in a future post.

Upcoming Book Adventures: 

Jen Says: I have Enclave by Ann Aguirre to listen to on audio. I'm still rereading and discussing Fake Mustache by Tom Angleberger with Colby. I just started reading a few pages of Splendors and Glooms by Laura Amy Schlitz. I also have October Mourning by Leslea Newman to read as well. I'll be starting PD for new teachers and their mentors this week! I'm so excited to hear how it's going for them and to share kidlit and professional reads with them! 

Kellee Says: I am actually not sure what I am going to read. I have a pile of books for review and I know I am going to read one of them- I'm looking forward to reading them.
