It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!
It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!
After doing the meme for a couple of weeks, we realized this would be a fun meme to start up with a kidlit focus - anyone reading and reviewing books in children's literature - it can be picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, you name it in the world of kidlit and it's in! We have loved being a part of this meme and we hope you do too! We encourage everyone participating to go and visit the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and to comment on as many posts as you can. We love talking books and believe in sharing and discussing what we're reading. We hope you join us!
Last Week's Book Adventures:
Jen Says: Hooray for winter break! This weekend was already perfect. We slept in and spent time as a family doing lots of things. Saturday we had a great time at the library. I'm looking forward to more winter break fun. I felt like I read so many picture books after great #bookaday reading on Saturday and Sunday. Many of them were Nerdy nominees because I wanted to be an educated Nerdy picture book voter (but not all of them!).
Here are some of those #bookstack titles:
I did finish listening to The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. It was brilliant. Exactly what I needed after struggling through a few books. I definitely recommend it and can't wait for the next in the series! I also finished Sharon Creech's The Great Unexpected on audio and started The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle. I've been reading Sean Griswold's Head and Mindset and am about halfway through both of those.
Here are some of those #bookstack titles:
Chopsticks by Amy Krouse Rosenthal
Because Amelia Smiled by David Ezra Stein
Creepy Carrots by Aaron Reynold
The Black Rabbit by Phillipa Leathers
Goldilocks and Just One Bear by Leigh Hodgkinson
A Home for Bird by Phllip C. Stead
Hello! Hello! by Matthew Cordell
Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin
The Gentleman Bug by Julian Hector
Have Fun, Molly Lou Melon by Patty Lovell
Kellee Says: I second Jen's YAY for Winter Break! I also want to wish all of you celebrating a wonderful holiday! It is so nice to have only family and reading and me time to focus on. I am still listening to Gossamer, but I hope to finish it today. It is a special little book and if you haven't read it yet, you should pick it up. My winter break #bookaday started off well - I finished Man Overboard! by Curtis Parkinson on Saturday and The Green Man by Michael Bedard on Sunday. I hope that the rest of the break goes as well.

Upcoming Book Adventures:
Jen Says: My plan is to finish Sean Griswold's Head and Mindset and The Talent Code. I have Tribes which I heard people referencing at NCTE and at the fantastic Nerdy Book Club party. I also have Hide and Seek, Kate Messner's sequel to Capture the Flag that I'm really excited to read. I have a few others in my pile from NCTE so we'll see what I grab from there as the week goes on. If I'm lucky, I'll also have Anne Lamott's Bird By Bird to read (it's on my Teachers Write Wish List for Santa...). Cross your fingers for me!
Kellee Says: Oh man, I have so many books I want to read this week! I still have The Giver and its sequels to read (I actually listened to the end of the book with one of my colleague's eighth grade classes on Friday and I cannot wait to share with you some of the discussions we had! I love hearing new theories about the end of the book!). I also have Teen Boat, Hattie Ever After, Hero's Guide to Storming the Castle and many others waiting. After I finish listening to Gossamer, I have the Spiderwick Chronicles in queue. It'll be a spectacular week!
Check back throughout the week to hear about these books.
