We have had a great week here at Teach Mentor Texts sharing 2012 round-up posts and looking-forward-to 2013 posts. I have one more 2013 post to share and then we'll get back to our regularly scheduled book reviews this week!
Today I'm revealing my 2013 Bookish Un-Boring List! My wonderful friend, Alison, whom I have known since my freshman year in high school and who lives in Boston (home to the NCTE national conference in 2013!) created an Un-Boring list for herself in 2011. When I visited her that year in August, I went with her to a glass blowing class that was one of the activities on her Un-Boring List for that year. I decided I had to have my own Un-Boring List for 2012! I shared my list over on my (dusty) personal blog and yesterday I shared my 2012 Un-Boring List recap.
I like having an Un-Boring list a lot more than resolutions. In a sense, I guess an Un-Boring List is more about setting out steps towards a resolution to have fun, to have adventures, to try something new, to live life to the fullest. For me it's a great way to look ahead to what the next year has in store and a way to take advantage of the awesomeness of life.
This year, I'm taking my Un-Boring List to another level! I still have a 2013 Un-Boring List but I created a totally different 2013 Bookish Un-Boring List to share here.
Maybe you'll find yourself being part of my 2013 Bookish Un-Boring List fun or maybe you have a few ideas for your own 2013 Bookish Un-Boring List! I would love to hear what great bookish ideas you have in store for 2013!

Jen's 2013 Bookish Un-Boring List:
1. Host a book and a bookmark swap with Kellee
here at Teach Mentor Texts
2. Have a taco party to celebrate
Dragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin
3. Reread Blue Balliett's Chasing Vermeer series
and go on a Robie House mystery tour
4. Crochet an Extra Yarn-like case for my Nook
5. Release books into the wild
through Book Crossing to celebrate
Donalyn Miller's new book Reading in the Wild
out in 2013 (no cover yet!)
6. Visit new (to me) Indie book stores
7. Create paper mache book art
like they have at Reading Reptile book store
8. Have a graphic novel read-a-thon
9. Have a monster celebration with Peanut
*thinking of reading monster-themed books,
seeing Monsters University (the sequel to Monsters Inc 2)
and writing our own monster stories*
10. Write another book this summer
(the first draft at least...)
(three cheers for Teachers Write!)
Have you read The Tickle Monster book? It comes with the book and tickle monster hands! May be fun add to your monster theme...
