It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!
It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!
After doing the meme for a couple of weeks, we realized this would be a fun meme to start up with a kidlit focus - anyone reading and reviewing books in children's literature - it can be picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, you name it in the world of kidlit and it's in! We have loved being a part of this meme and we hope you do too! We encourage everyone participating to go and visit the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and to comment on as many posts as you can. We love talking books and believe in sharing and discussing what we're reading. We hope you join us!
Last Week's Book Adventures:
Jen Says: Hooray for summer and #bookaday! I love it. I'm still listening to Eon but may switch over to the physical copy now that I'm barely in my car ever. I did read and love Doll Bones by Holly Black and The Wig in the Window by Kristen Kittscher. I also read Campfire Crisis which we'll be reviewing this week and completely had me thinking about going camping. We always go at the end of the summer and now I'm even more ready to go. I also read part 1 of Notice and Note in time for the Twitter chat on Thursday.
Kellee Says: Summer is here! And with summer comes #bookaday! I worked through Friday, but I started #bookaday as soon as I got home. So far, in 2 days I have completed 4 #bookadays! This is why I love summer time. So far this week, I listened to George Carlin's More Napalm and Silly Putty which was something else, read the adult humor book How to Tell if Your Cat is Plotting to Kill You by Matthew Inman which was also something else, the illustrated fantastical novel-in-verse Bartholomew Biddle and the Very Big Wind by Gary Ross which we'll review this week, and finally Hawaii's Green Sea Turtles by Monka Mira which I'll review next week.
Upcoming Book Adventures:
Jen Says: Last week I thought I would get to some of my writing books but I didn't actually get to them. I did pick up Save the Cat! from the library that I'm eager to dive into for plotting ideas and I still have Write Away to read, too. Popular Clone and Cloneward Bound are still on my TBR but I also have Elizabeth Eulberg's The Lonely Hearts Club which I really want to read. Lots picture books I'm sure I'll get to, too!
Kellee Says: Currently, though I will finish it tonight, I am reading The Wig in the Window by Kristen Kittscher and I am typing my post as quickly as possible to get back to reading it. Then I am going to read some dad inspired picture books from Candlewick which we'll share with you on Father's Day. Then finally, after that I have some rereading of books I cannot tell you about.
