It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!
It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journeys. It is a great way to recap what you read and/or reviewed the previous week and to plan out your reading and reviews for the upcoming week. It's also a great chance to see what others are reading right now…who knows, you might discover that next “must read” book!
After doing the meme for a couple of weeks, we realized this would be a fun meme to start up with a kidlit focus - anyone reading and reviewing books in children's literature - it can be picture books, chapter books, middle grade novels, young adult novels, you name it in the world of kidlit and it's in! We have loved being a part of this meme and we hope you do too! We encourage everyone participating to go and visit the other kidlit book bloggers that link up and to comment on as many posts as you can. We love talking books and believe in sharing and discussing what we're reading. We hope you join us!
Last Week's Book Adventures:
Jen Says: Hooray summer! I just love that it's summer. I just finished my first full week of summer break and it was a great reading week. I read quite a few picture books, Mitchell Goes Bowling we reviewed last week and it was super cute! Save the Cat was a book I read for Teachers Write and it was excellent. I'm so excited to review my work-in-progress after finishing it. I'm taking two courses this summer so I did a lot of textbook reading and one I finished, it was called Promoting Harmony. I really enjoyed it actually. I read the graphic novel Peanut and am still listening to Eon on audio.
Kellee Says: I love teaching so much, but I always look forward to summer because it means more reading! This summer I jumped right into #bookaday and am enjoying every minute of it. Although I cannot tell you everything I am reading (I am rereading for a committee), I can share the others with you. This week, I finished one novel, one novelty book, and four picture books. The 4 picture books are the Father's Day books so you can see what I thought of them by clicking on the reviews below. The novel I read was The Wig in the Window which I LOVED and cannot wait to share it with you this week. Finally, I read a birthday present from a friend: Flipping Brilliant: A Penguin's Guide to a Happy Life by Jonathan Chester which is filled with adorable penguin photos and actually some pretty good advice.

Upcoming Book Adventures:
Jen Says: My plan this week is to finish up Eon to review on Saturday and to really read Popular Clone and Cloneward Bound. Honestly, I have sooooooo many books that I want to read! I still have Write Away that I want to read because Teachers Write starts next week. I keep hearing people talking about Eleanor & Park and I'm so curious to read it. Kasie West was also an author who was recommended to me that I would love to read. We'll see what I actually pick up!
Kellee Says: This week I am continuing my rereading. I am also continuing my read of Notice and Note by Kylene Beers and Robert Probst (a must read for teachers if you haven't read it yet). I plan on getting in 2 Adventure Time graphic novels and 2 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle graphic novels that I just purchased. I'm also almost done with my audiobook- Oh! The Things I Know by Al Franken- which is actually quite hilarious and then I'll begin listening to a Margaret Cho audiobook I have.
