This week I'm celebrating my favorite things
(at this moment) (that come to mind)!

What are some of your favorite things (at this moment) (that come to mind)? What are you celebrating this week?
I spent last night decorating my new writer's notebook. When I was still working with students, I created writer's notebooks with them and I modeled the life of a writer who collects ideas in her notebook. Now I'm working with a fifth grade teacher and focusing on writing in her class. She'll have Chromebooks in her class again and we'll use Google Classroom and share Docs and brainstorm on Padlet and even blog with Kidblog...but first, we're setting up writer's notebooks.
I'm a fan of balanced literacy even when it comes to using technology. There is a time and place for pen-in-hand as much as fingers-on-keyboard.
We talked through ideas for sections in the writers' notebooks and we decided on five tabs:
Very Cool Vocabulary
Quotations
Free Writes
Heart Map and Favorites
Seed Ideas
On my Heart Map page, I drew a big heart and I'll map out things that are close to my heart with students this week but on the next few pages I started some lists of my favorites. After reading my friend Erin's blog and pulling some of my favorite quotes from her blog, I had an idea for jotting down my favorite things (at this moment) (...that come to mind) and I'll share them here now as a celebration.
My Favorite Things

These feel like some great things to celebrate and I'm so happy for all of them in my life. It feels pretty great to have a full heart going into a new school year. Students (including my own babies) go back to school in my district tomorrow. Can't wait!
