We made it! Technically Teachers Write ended in Friday but one more check in makes sense to me!
Today is my third day of motorcycle class. I spent most of yesterday learning how to turn a motorcycle on, how to roll on the throttle, how to pull in the clutch and change gears, how to use the front and rear brakes and come to a stop without toppling the bike over. It's been an intense weekend! But going into my third day I feel so much better. I'm more confident and I'm proud of myself for taking the risk because I tried.
I'm hoping I'll pass and actually get my license...we'll see! But I'm thinking now how trying something new, getting out of my comfort zone, being brave, taking deep breaths is part of every new challenge. But so is reflecting on how things went.
After every exercise, the instructors had us stop and talk about how it went, what worked, what was hard, what did we notice about ourselves and others. And isn't that what we do here with Teachers Write? We are brave and take risks but we stop and think - for ourselves and for others and for our students.
I'll let you know if I get my motorcycle license...but you don't need a license to write. You are here. You've tried - whether it was one day or all of the days.
My Teachers Write Weekly Recap:
This week, I definitely wrote more than last week but still less than I had planned. I did get a little over 3,000 words so that's still progress! I also got some feedback on revisions from my other manuscript but I'm not ready to dive back in yet. Instead I'm working on keeping the notes in mind as I draft. I'm meeting some Teachers Write friends to write again tomorrow...so for me the writing fun continues!
Thank you coming here to share your experiences!!! Happy writing!
A reminder of my rules for Teachers Write Sunday Check-Ins:
1. We respect each other and the type of writing we do.
2. We only offer constructive criticism.
3. We are positive and encourage each other at all times.
4. We recognize and maintain this as a safe environment.
Today, in the comments section:
How did you do this week? Did you meet your weekly goal(s)?
What was the pit of your week? (The hardest part, the non-fun part?)
What was the peak of your week? (The best part, the most-fun part?)
What are you looking forward to and planning for the week ahead?
