This week I'm celebrating Bravo for Books!
*throws confetti*
What are you celebrating this week?
The story I'm about to tell you may be one of my proudest school moments ever...and it's only just beginning.
I've been working with a team at Mechanics Grove, our grades 3 - 5 building, to get a book review blog up and running. Here's the beauty of it - it's book reviews for kids by kids. We only have one review up so far but next week, we have a whole assembly planned to celebrate reading at Mechanics Grove and to share it with the entire school. I can't wait to come back and celebrate the celebration we have for Bravo for Books.
Yup, it's called Bravo for Books. Aren't you just itching to check it out?
Okay, fine, here's the link: Bravo for Books.
What do you think!?! Isn't is spectacular?!
All of the people collaborating on this have been amazing but it really became possible thanks to an excited teacher willing to take a risk and an enthusiastic principal who built momentum around it. One of our teachers loves graphic design and he set up all the art work and the other technology integration specialist and I helped set up the logistics of the blog, the template and how students will submit reviews.
I'm pretty proud.
Kids get to write book review for other kids.
Kids get to celebrate their reading and books they love.
Kids get to write about books and publish their reviews.
Reading wins.
Writing wins.
Books win.
Kids win.
We have more reviews coming this week and I'll share more next week after our assembly. We would love for you to tell kids about our blog and we welcome comments!
