Let's Celebrate World Read Aloud Day 2016! #wrad16

It's time to CELEBRATE This Week with Ruth Ayres from Discover. Play. Build.  Every week Ruth invites us to share our celebrations from the week and link up at her blog. What a fun way to reflect on everything there is to be thankful for.

This week I'm celebrating World Read Aloud Day 2016!

*throws confetti*

I'm a bit late on my World Read Aloud Day celebration post but I can't not share how absolutely awesome it was just one more time. I shared the idea to celebrate WRAD by Skyping with authors and illustrators with teachers across my district and then helped connect them with some of my amazing author and illustrator friends. For more information on WRAD, you can visit the Litworld WRAD webpage.
Remember how revel is my one little word this year? Well, it was not hard to sit back and just soak it all in. I loved hearing the students' questions and feeling inspired by the authors' and illustrator's answers. It was such an awesome experience to spend three days traveling around my district to join in on these Skypes. I'll never forget the excitement. It still brings a smile to my face.

We also had Josh Funk, Ame Dyckman, and Louise Borden connect with 2nd graders and kindergartners. All said and done, 17 author and illustrators connected with 22 classes of students. It was an absolutely fantastic week of celebrating reading aloud and our love of books in District 75. I'm already excited for next year!

What are you celebrating this week?
