Week #2 - Teachers Write Sunday Check-In 2016

Hello writer friends! Ohmigosh, its been a wild week but its also been a great writing week for me. Unfortunately, I totally meant to make my video and I ran out of time...maybe I'll still get one up but never fear, I do still have something for you to watch and listen to today!

When it comes to writing, I believe in writing what moves you. Music moves me. I have Spotify and create playlists all the time. I even have a playlist for my different WIPs. The song that moved me to even think about the story I'm revising was The Only Exception by Paramore. I've blogged before about how I can pretty much write anywhere if I have my phone or computer with me so I can pull up a playlist. (Click the link above if you want to see some of the songs on my playlists.)

The Only Exception definitely is a mentor text for me because of its tone but also the  intense message it sends. Just yesterday, I heard Sean Mendes' new song Treat You Better and I'll definitely be adding it to my playlist because the message matches my story and I love it. Again, the tone and intensity is exactly what I'm hoping for in this manuscript.

Maybe it's a thought or a feeling or an issue that moves you. Whatever it is, when you get that feeling that you can't let go of, the kind that latches onto you like a sticky burr and you can't get it off of you to save your life, write about it. It's good for your own soul but if it's something you are passionate about, it's probably good for others to hear it from you too.

My Teachers Write Recap:
I'm not sure I got in my two hours of revision a day that I wanted to but I definitely had lots of writing time. I had two Starbucks mornings this week and one short afternoon trip plus I squeezed in some writing at home. The peak for me is that I'm getting time in, I'm happy to read all the posts and to read the answers to the Wednesday questions and I feel good about being able to query again soon. The pit for me this week is that in this current revision I think I messed up my timeline. I need things to happen sooner but I'm struggling to fit everything in so I might actually need to stretch things out a bit. I tried to work on this yesterday and I had to close my computer because it was frustrating. But I think taking a brief break will be good and I'm sure I can figure it out.

This week I'm looking forward to Nerdcamp Michigan! Im so excited and if any of my Teachers Write friends are there, please say hi! I know Gae will be there! But I'm also looking forward to finding time again to write and getting through this timeline mess and hopefully meeting up with a writing friend on Friday. Let's see if I can finish up this revisions by next week!

A reminder of my rules for Teachers Write Sunday Check-Ins:
1. We respect each other and the type of writing we do.
2. We only offer constructive criticism.
3. We are positive and encourage each other at all times.
4. We recognize and maintain this as a safe environment.

Today, in the comments:
How did you do this week? Did you meet your weekly goal(s)?
What moves you to write? Does a song maybe influence your writing?
What was the pit of your week? (The hardest part, the not-so-fun part?)
What was the peak of your week? (The best part, the most-totally-fun part?)
What are you looking forward to and planning for the week ahead?
P. S. Thank you for replying to each other's comments!
While I read them all and do my best to reply and
reply as soon as possible it doesn't always happen.
I so appreciate you cheering each other on through Teachers Write! You r-o-c-k!

Psst! Yes, you! One more thing...
