It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 6/28/2021

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? From Picture Books to YA!

It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a weekly blog hop I co-host with Kellee and Ricki from Unleashing ReadersThe original IMWAYR, with an adult literature focus, was started by Sheila at Book Journeys and is now hosted by Kathryn at The Book Date.

It's a great way to share what you're reading and get recommendations. We encourage you to write your own post sharing what you’re reading, link up below, leave a comment, and support other IMWAYR bloggers by visiting and commenting on at least three of the other linked blogs.

Last Week's Adventures:
I finished listening to The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna. I heard from various people that it took a while to get into it and I agree, it was at least halfway in before I was really invested. But by the end, I was completely hooked. I'll need to do a blog post about it because I saw so many parallels to life that I want to explore.

I found myself picking up Why They Can't Write by John Warner. I started reading it in the fall and was about halfway through so I spent time (mostly by the pool, yay summer!) finishing it. I also have Craft in the Real World by Matthew Salesses that I also started during the school year but haven't finished so I've spent time with that too.

This Week's Adventures:

My plan this week is to finish Craft in the Real World and to read King and the Dragonflies by Kacen Callender for the Book Love Summer Book Club. I'll also (finally!) be listening to I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika L. Sanchez.

Goodness Coming Your Way This Week!

Teachers Write is back!!! I'm soooooo ready to connect with my teacher writer friends! This summer is all about time to reflect, write, and renew. If you aren't signed up for Teachers Write yet, you can do that here. As always, Teachers Write is all about YOU. You make it what you want it to be. Kate and I will be sharing resources and you decide what works for you. This year I'll be posting the weekly check-ins on Thursdays so be sure to check back and let me know how your writing is going! I've been part of Teachers Write since the very beginning and it has played such a big role in why I love working with young writers and teacher writers.

What are you reading this week?
